Sarkeesian was fascinated by the gender issue and feminist movements since at a very young age. When she was in 2009, she was a student at the university level, she launched the website Feminist Frequency. An ambitious woman had a plan to make a web series focused on the gender roles in gaming. In the end, she came across herself the target of a cyber-bullying campaign. This attack didn't stop her from pursuing the project, and instead reinforced her determination as feminist media critic. Her significant contributions in the field of feminists were recognized by a variety of prizes. Anita Sarkeesian is an award awarded media critic, and director of Feminist Frequency an educational organization exploring the role of women in popular culture storylines.
